Dreaming is an excellent thing to do. It's a worthwhile concept. Why? You can actually manifest outcomes for yourself. But, don't rely on it alone.

The vast majority results come from action. However, if you rely on only dreaming and hoping, you are going to be dissapointed a lot of the time. I know, it’s disappointing, but it is true.

On top of that, it seems that many people are concerned overly much about being mistake free. Lots of people plan instead.

The outcome here is clear. A big zero! But, remember all of this has a good place.

Our digital world makes things worse sometimes. Much time is wasted with this techology.

Here is a great example. In WW2 a sub captain had to go slow. He had to take the time to be certain before action. Long hours and days were vital for survival. His torpedo was really just a big bullet. He had to have all things lined up before he actually fired the torpedo.

Think about that. If you had to make certain before action or you would certainly fail. You should take your time.

Today a torpedo has a guidance system.

It is a very good feature. Now, the captain can almost fire and forget. He does not need to be extra careful about aiming before he fires. No time available for planning.

Today's torpedo can be guided while underway. So, the captain can fire quickly. Delay can spell disaster for him, his crew and his ship. He is in a very dangerous "business".

Think about the difference. In WW2 the captain had to wait. Now, he has to act. The environment dictates the difference. Why so different? If he fired too soon, he would likely miss and expend his resources in a futile cause.

Today's captain has exactly the opposite situation. He must fire now. What has changed? Delay will give time to the enemy to find him. Much too deadly to wait. Too deadly to plan, plot and ponder the situation.

Sadly, far too many of today's business people use the WW2 tactic. They don't see waiting can be "fatal".

Today's environment is more akin to the modern sub captain's environment. It is fast, fast fast.

You simply must take immediate action, and adjust afterwards. You can not afford the time to plan. You can not delay. Time is too short.

I often discuss this issue. She was lamenting about a friends constant "getting ready to get ready" behavior. Nothing was getting done. The employee was waiting for the right moment. Results would "come later."

I told her about the young man who was sent out to get a deer for dinner to feed his family. He brought back a rabbit. No where near a deer in size! He never saw a deer. So, he shot a rabbit.

They had a dinner. They did not get a story about a fruitless hunt.

Too many people deliver a story instead of a meal. Don't let that happen to you and your team. Review these managment courses to see what fits best.
